2. Code addenda <strong>and</strong> case interpretations accepted automatically.<br />

3. NFPA 54.<br />

4. Special design or construction requires approval <strong>of</strong> chief combustion inspector.<br />

5. Code rules updated every ten years (approximately).<br />

6. City <strong>of</strong> Buffalo follows New York State Industrial Code <strong>Rules</strong> 14 <strong>and</strong> 4 for high- <strong>and</strong> low-pressure boilers.<br />

Stamping:<br />

Where appropriate, the following <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> stamps or ASME Code symbol stamps are required:<br />

1. <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong>: R, VR.<br />

2. ASME Code: H, S, U.<br />

1. All boilers <strong>and</strong> pressure vessels, except the following:<br />

a. <strong>Boiler</strong>s under federal control or regulation.<br />

b. <strong>Boiler</strong>s subject to inspection under the US Department <strong>of</strong> Transportation.<br />

c. <strong>Boiler</strong>s located on farms <strong>and</strong> used solely for agricultural purposes.<br />

d. Steam or vapor boilers operating at a gage pressure <strong>of</strong> not more than 15 psi <strong>and</strong> located in dwellings occupied by<br />

fewer than six families.<br />

e. Hot-water boilers located in dwellings occupied by fewer than six families.<br />

f. Low-pressure boilers under 100,000 BTU per hour.<br />

2. All unfired pressure vessels, except the following:<br />

a. Pressure vessels under federal control or regulation.<br />
