pressure, including those containing air, the compression of which serves as a cushion.
5. Hot-water supply boilers and hot-water heating boilers which are directly fired with oil, gas, or electricity, when none of
the following limitations is exceeded:
a. Heat input of 200,000 BTU per hour;
b. Water temperature of 200°F;
c. A nominal water-containing capacity of 120 gallons, except that such hot-water supply boilers shall be equipped
Same as OBJECTS SUBJECT TO RULES FOR CONSTRUCTION AND STAMPING, except the following:
1. A steam or vapor boiler used for heating purposes, carrying a pressure of not more than 15 psig, which is installed in a
private residence or in an apartment house with fewer than six family units.
2. A hot-water heating boiler or a hot-water supply boiler, operated at pressures not exceeding 160 psig or temperatures
not exceeding 250°F, which is installed in a private residence or in an apartment house with fewer than six family units.
3. A pressure vessel operating entirely full of water or other liquid not materially more hazardous than water with
temperature not exceeding 185°F and including those containing air, the compression of which serves only as a cushion,
or airlift pumping system.
4. Pressure vessels, the contents of which are known to be noncorrosive to the materials of which the shell, head or
fittings are constructed either from the chemical composition of the contents or from evidence that the contents are
adequately treated with a corrosion inhibitor; except those used to contain lethal substances or compressed air.
