CertIFICate OF InSpeCtIOn<br />
Certificate <strong>of</strong> Inspection, valid for 12 months for power boilers <strong>and</strong> 24 months for low-pressure boilers <strong>and</strong> pressure vessels, is issued<br />
by the board upon payment <strong>of</strong> a fee <strong>of</strong> $20.00 for an annual certificate <strong>and</strong> $30.00 for a biennial certificate to the Mississippi<br />
State <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> Health, <strong>Boiler</strong> <strong>and</strong> Pressure Vessel Safety Fund.<br />
State FeeS<br />
Fees are payable to the board by the owner/user upon completion <strong>of</strong> inspection.<br />
1. Internal inspection:<br />
a. Heating surface <strong>of</strong> 50 square feet or less ........................................................................................................................... $12.00<br />
b. Heating surface over 50 square feet <strong>and</strong> less than 4,000 square feet ..........................................................................$25.00<br />
c. Heating surface <strong>of</strong> 4,000 square feet <strong>and</strong> less than 10,000 square feet .......................................................................$35.00<br />
d. Heating surface <strong>of</strong> 10,000 square feet or more ................................................................................................................ $40.00<br />
2. External inspection:<br />
a. Heating surface <strong>of</strong> 50 square feet or less ........................................................................................................................... $10.00<br />

Not more than the equivalent <strong>of</strong> the certificate <strong>and</strong> external inspection fees shall be charged or collected for any <strong>and</strong> all inspections<br />
as above for any boiler in any one year.<br />
Low-pressure boilers:<br />
a. Heating boiler without manhole ........................................................................................................................................... $12.00<br />

c. Hot-water supply boiler ......................................................................................................................................................... $10.00<br />
Not more than one fee shall be charged or collected for any <strong>and</strong> all inspections as above for any heating boiler in any required<br />
inspection period.<br />
4. Pressure vessels:<br />
a. Cross-sectional area <strong>of</strong> 50 square feet ................................................................................................................................ $10.00<br />
b. Each additional 100 square feet <strong>of</strong> area .............................................................................................................................. $10.00<br />
A group <strong>of</strong> pressure vessels, such as the rolls <strong>of</strong> paper machines or dryers operating as a single machine or unit, shall be considered<br />
as one pressure vessel. Not more than one fee shall be charged or collected for any <strong>and</strong> all inspections as above for any<br />
pressure vessel in any required inspection period.<br />
5. Hydrostatic tests, if necessary, shall be charged the same fee scale for certificate inspections at the owner/user’s expense.<br />
6. Other inspections, including shop inspections, special inspections, <strong>and</strong> inspections <strong>of</strong> secondh<strong>and</strong> or used boilers or<br />
pressure vessels, made by the chief inspector, shall be charged at a rate <strong>of</strong> not less than $60.00 for one-half day <strong>of</strong> four<br />
hours <strong>and</strong> $100.00 for one full day <strong>of</strong> eight hours, plus expenses including travel <strong>and</strong> lodging.<br />
mISCellaneOUS<br />
1. A processing fee <strong>of</strong> $25.00 is required for the issuance <strong>of</strong> a Certificate <strong>of</strong> Competency.<br />
2. Reciprocal Commission is issued to inspectors holding a current <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> Commission. Commissions are renewed<br />
annually for a fee <strong>of</strong> $25.00.<br />
3. Approval to install secondh<strong>and</strong> equipment must be obtained by the owner/user from the chief inspector.<br />
4. All boilers or pressure vessels subject to law must be stamped with a Mississippi serial number.<br />
5. Copies <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Boiler</strong> <strong>and</strong> Pressure Vessel <strong>Rules</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong> may be obtained by contacting the director/chief boiler<br />
inspector, or by visiting the MSDH Web site.<br />
