8. Steam boilers used exclusively for heating purposes with a pressure <strong>of</strong> not more than 15 psi (gage) located in private<br />
residences or in apartment houses <strong>of</strong> six families or fewer.<br />
9. Hot-water heating boilers with a pressure <strong>of</strong> not more than 30 psi located in private residences or apartment houses <strong>of</strong><br />
six families or fewer.<br />
10. Unfired pressure vessels containing liquified petroleum gases.<br />
11. Unfired pressure vessels containing only water under pressure for domestic purposes (including those containing air,<br />
the compression <strong>of</strong> which serves only as a cushion for air lift pumping systems), when located in private residences or<br />
apartment houses <strong>of</strong> six families or fewer.<br />
12. Electric <strong>Boiler</strong>s meeting the following:<br />
a. Tank volume <strong>of</strong> not more than 1-1/2 cubic feet;<br />
b. Maximum allowable working pressure <strong>of</strong> 80 psi or less <strong>and</strong> a pressure relief system preventing excess pressure;<br />
c. Constructed after June 10, 1994 to ASME Code, or approved or otherwise certified by a nationally recognized or<br />
foreign recognized testing laboratory or construction code.<br />
13. Espresso machines.<br />
14. <strong>Boiler</strong> or unfired pressure vessels located on farms or used soley for agricultural purposes.<br />
15. Hot water heaters listed by a nationally recognized testing agency having:<br />
a. Approved safety devices including a pressure/temperature relief valve;<br />
b. Water capacity <strong>of</strong> 120 gallons or less;<br />
c. Heat input <strong>of</strong> 200,000 BTUs per hour or less;<br />
d. Pressure <strong>of</strong> 160 psi or less <strong>and</strong> a temperature <strong>of</strong> 200°F or less when used for hot water supply<br />
e. Not installed in a school, childcare center, hospital, nursing or boarding home, church, public building owned or<br />
leased <strong>and</strong> maintained by the state or political subdivision there<strong>of</strong>, or assembly hall.<br />

InSpeCtIOnS reQUIreD<br />
1. Power boilers:<br />
a. One annual internal inspection;<br />
b. One annual external inspection.<br />
2. Low-pressure heating boilers:<br />
a. One biennial internal inspection where construction permits;<br />
b. One biennial external inspection.<br />
3. Unfired pressure vessels:<br />
a. One biennial internal inspection where construction permits;<br />
b. One biennial external inspection while under pressure.<br />
InSUranCe InSpeCtIOn reQUIrementS<br />
1. Inspections made by inspectors employed by insurance companies are accepted in lieu <strong>of</strong> inspections made by a jurisdiction<br />
department inspector. All initial installation inspections shall be made by a department inspector.<br />
2. Reports <strong>of</strong> inspection must be filed with department on <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> forms within 30 days.<br />
3. Department must be notified <strong>of</strong> suspension <strong>of</strong> insurance on account <strong>of</strong> dangerous conditions on <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> forms.<br />
4. Department must be notified <strong>of</strong> new business <strong>and</strong> discontinuance <strong>of</strong> insurance on <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> forms.<br />
