b. Pressure vessels used for transportation <strong>of</strong> compressed gases (if constructed in accordance with the US Department<br />

<strong>of</strong> Transportation or Oklahoma Corporation Commission), or containers for liquified petroleum gases (subject<br />

to the US Department <strong>of</strong> Transportation or Oklahoma Liquified Petroleum Gas Administration);<br />

c. Pressure vessels containing air located on vehicles operating pursuant to regulations <strong>of</strong> other jurisdictional<br />

authorities;<br />

d. <strong>Boiler</strong>s <strong>and</strong> pressure vessels located on railroad locomotives;<br />

e. Pressure vessels on remote sites limited to oil- <strong>and</strong> natural gas-gathering facilities, processing plants or gas-producing<br />

lease locations;<br />

f. Pressure vessels in the care, custody, <strong>and</strong> control <strong>of</strong> research facilities used solely for research purposes;<br />

g. Pressure vessels on oil <strong>and</strong> gas lease locations.<br />

ObJeCtS SUbJeCt tO rUleS FOr FIelD InSpeCtIOn<br />

Same as OBJECTS SUBJECT TO RULES FOR CONSTRUCTION AND STAMPING, <strong>and</strong> hot-water supply heaters located in facilities or<br />

installations owned or operated by the State <strong>of</strong> Oklahoma, or its agencies, counties, municipalities, or school districts, except the<br />

following:<br />

1. Pressure vessels not exceeding 15 cubic feet in volume <strong>and</strong> 250 psig.<br />

2. Low-pressure steam boilers, hot-water heating boilers, hot-water supply boilers, hot-water supply heaters, or pressure<br />

vessels located in private residences or in apartment houses <strong>of</strong> fewer than six family units.<br />

3. Pressure vessels operated full <strong>of</strong> water or other liquid (not materially more hazardous than water), provided the vessel<br />

contents do not exceed a temperature <strong>of</strong> 150°F or a pressure <strong>of</strong> 200 psig.<br />

Vessels within the scope <strong>of</strong> the API Inspection Code shall be inspected as prescribed therein.<br />

Downstream welded steam piping exceeding 15 psi requires inspection.<br />

InSUranCe InSpeCtIOn reQUIrementS<br />

1. Inspections made by insurance company inspectors may be accepted in lieu <strong>of</strong> inspections made by a department inspector,<br />

provided a photostatic copy <strong>of</strong> the inspector’s <strong>National</strong> <strong>Board</strong> Certificate is furnished to the department <strong>and</strong> the<br />

inspector is authorized by the commissioner <strong>of</strong> labor.<br />

2. Exact copies <strong>of</strong> inspector’s field reports must be filed with the department within 30 days.<br />

3. <strong>The</strong> department must be notified immediately regarding the suspension <strong>of</strong> insurance on account <strong>of</strong> dangerous conditions.<br />

4. <strong>The</strong> department must be notified <strong>of</strong> new business <strong>and</strong> discontinuance <strong>of</strong> insurance within 30 days.<br />

CertIFICate OF InSpeCtIOn<br />

Certificate <strong>of</strong> Inspection is valid for 12 months for boilers <strong>and</strong> 36 months for pressure vessels <strong>and</strong> issued by the commissioner<br />

upon payment <strong>of</strong> a $25.00, $50.00 or $75.00 fee. Fee shall be paid directly to the department <strong>of</strong> labor.<br />
