9. Pressure vessels with an internal or external operating pressure <strong>of</strong> not more than 15 psig with no limitation on size.<br />

10. Air receivers having a volume <strong>of</strong> less than 90 gallons <strong>and</strong> a working pressure less than 200 psig as stamped on the<br />

manufacturer’s nameplate.<br />

11. Pressure vessels used in processing <strong>and</strong> storing <strong>of</strong> fermented beverages at temperatures not exceeding 140°F.<br />

InSpeCtIOnS reQUIreD<br />

1. Power boilers: One annual internal inspection. Where an internal inspection is not possible because <strong>of</strong> boiler construction,<br />

an external inspection will be acceptable. Should operating conditions require longer periods, an extension <strong>of</strong> time<br />

may be granted upon written application to the department with written concurrence <strong>of</strong> inspection agency.<br />

2. Low-pressure steam <strong>and</strong> hot-water boilers: one external or internal inspection every 36 months.<br />

3. Pressure vessels: one external or internal inspection every 36 months.<br />

4. Anhydrous ammonia storage <strong>and</strong> nurse tanks: one inspection every 36 months.<br />

5. Power piping: welder documentation <strong>and</strong> material inspection prior to start <strong>of</strong> fabrication (installed to ASME B31.1).<br />

InSUranCe InSpeCtIOn reQUIrementS<br />

1. <strong>The</strong> department must be notified <strong>of</strong> suspension <strong>of</strong> insurance because <strong>of</strong> dangerous conditions.<br />

2. <strong>The</strong> department must be notified <strong>of</strong> new business or discontinuance <strong>of</strong> insurance.<br />

CertIFICate OF InSpeCtIOn<br />

Certificate <strong>of</strong> Inspection is issued by the State <strong>of</strong> Wisconsin.<br />

mUnICIpal FeeS<br />

1. <strong>Boiler</strong>s: Permit fee for installation or replacement <strong>of</strong> a boiler shall be $50.00 per unit not exceeding 150,000 BTU per<br />

hour <strong>of</strong> input. For each additional 50,000 BTU per hour or fraction there<strong>of</strong>, an additional fee <strong>of</strong> $10.00 shall be charged.<br />

2. Unfired pressure vessels: permit fee for installation <strong>of</strong> an unfired pressure vessel shall be $50.00 per vessel.<br />

3. Power piping: permit fee for installation <strong>of</strong> power piping shall be $15.00 per 100 feet <strong>of</strong> piping. Minimum fee shall be<br />

$50.00.<br />

4. Repairs: permit fee for repairs <strong>of</strong> boilers <strong>and</strong> pressure vessels shall be $40.00.<br />

5. Electronic monitoring: permit fee for installation <strong>of</strong> electronic monitoring shall be computed at $100.00 for each boiler.<br />

6. Periodic inspections – power boilers:<br />

a. 0 – 250 square feet <strong>of</strong> heating surface ..............................................................................................................................$130.00<br />

7. Periodic inspections – heating boilers:<br />

10. Reinspection fee: fee <strong>of</strong> $75.00 shall be assessed for inspections made by department to gain compliance with rules <strong>of</strong><br />

Chapter 223, after orders have been issued by the department.<br />

11. Hydrostatic tests for boilers <strong>and</strong> unfired pressure vessels: $90.00.<br />

12. Quality control review: fee <strong>of</strong> $75.00 per hour, or fraction there<strong>of</strong>, shall be charged for review <strong>of</strong> an organization’s quality<br />

control manual (minimum <strong>of</strong> two hours).<br />
