b. Water temperature less than 210°F;
c. Water-containing capacity less than 120 gallons.

InSpeCtIOnS reQUIreD
1. Power boilers:
a. Annual internal inspection;
b. Annual external inspection under pressure.
2. Low-pressure heating and hot-water supply boilers:
a. 2 year internal inspection;
b. 2 year external inspection.
3. Unfired pressure vessels subject to corrosion:
a. 3 year internal inspection;
b. 3 year external inspection.
InSUranCe InSpeCtIOn reQUIrementS
1. Inspections made by inspectors with a National Board commission and commissioned by the department are required.
2. Reports of internal inspections must be filed with the department on ASME forms within 30 days.
3. Reports of external inspections are not required unless dangerous conditions are present.
4. The commissioner must be notified within 30 days of suspension of insurance on account of dangerous conditions, new business,
and discontinuance of insurance.
5. The commissioner must be notified immediately of refusal to insure because of dangerous conditions.
6. Requirements for companies operating unfired pressure vessels:
a. Inspections made by inspectors with a National Board commission and commissioned by the department are
required.
b. Reports of internal and external inspections must be filed with the department on National Board forms within 30
days;
CertIFICate OF InSpeCtIOn
1. A Certificate of Inspection is valid for 12 months for high-pressure power boilers, 24 months for low-pressure boilers, and
36 months for unfired pressure vessels.
2. Insurance company inspectors must notify the division within 30 days of insurance being cancelled, not renewed, or
refused on new boilers and pressure vessels.

Any accident, incident, or explosion of a boiler or pressure vessel involving personal injury must be immediately reported by
the owner, user, or inspector to the division at 800.640.2106.
