When youglobally enable MLD snooping, it is enabled on all VLAN interfaces that are in the default state(enabled). VLAN configuration will override global configuration on interfaces on which MLDsnooping has been disabled. If MLD snooping is globally disabled, you cannot enable it on a VLAN. If MLD snooping is globallyenabled, you can disable it on individual VLANs.When the IPv6 multicast router is a Catalyst 6500 switch and you are using extended VLANs (in therange 1006 to 4094), IPv6 MLD snooping must be enabled on the extended VLAN on the Catalyst 6500switch in order for the Catalyst 3750-E or Catalyst 3560-E switch to receive queries on the VLAN. Fornormal-range VLANs (1 to 1005), it is not necessary to enable IPv6 MLD snooping on the VLAN on theCatalyst 6500 switch.VLAN numbers 1002 through 1005 are reserved for Token Ring and FDDI VLANs and cannot be usedin MLD snooping.OL-9776-08Catalyst 3750-E and 3560-E Switch Command Reference2-293
