If the RSPAN VLAN ID is in the extended range, you must manually configureintermediate switches (those in the RSPAN VLAN between the source switch <strong>and</strong> the destinationswitch).Before you configure the RSPAN remote-span comm<strong>and</strong>, use the vlan (global configuration) comm<strong>and</strong>to create the VLAN.The RSPAN VLAN has these characteristics:• No MAC address learning occurs on it.• RSPAN VLAN traffic flows only on trunk ports.• Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) can run in the RSPAN VLAN, but it does not run on RSPANdestination ports.When an existing VLAN is configured as an RSPAN VLAN, the VLAN is first deleted <strong>and</strong> then recreatedas an RSPAN VLAN.
