VISION, MISSION, MOTTO, CORE VALUES, KEY DEVELOPMENTALPRIORITIESOn the 06 – 07 March <strong>2013</strong>, Council and Management had a Strategic <strong>Planning</strong>workshop, In the main, the purpose of the session was to set a strategic frameworkthat should guide planning, programme, project implementation, monitoring andevaluation of municipal developmental objectives within the district, and also toserve as a framework for the review of the <strong>2013</strong>/<strong>14</strong> <strong>IDP</strong>. The other aim of theStrategic <strong>Planning</strong> Session is also to inform the municipal structure (organogram)which will be required to provide support in terms of human capacity for theimplementation of the strategy; and also to ensure that the structure is strictly in lineto the municipal powers and functions, in order to enhance service deliveryCouncil and management resolved to retain the current Vision, Mission, Motto andkey <strong>Development</strong>al Priorities for implementation during the <strong>2013</strong>/<strong>14</strong> financial year.The motive for retaining the current status quo was motivated by the fact that themunicipality has only had one year to implement the strategic programmes andprojects relating to the current vision, hence for continuous and effectiveimplementation, it was retained in order to achieve the desire results.The vision, mission, core values and developmental priorities for the municipality isas follows:1.1 VISION“A dynamic and viable district that promotes good governance, integrated andsustainable development”1.2 MISSION STATEMENT“We are a united family of municipalities that champions service delivery throughco-operative governance and public participation”The vision and mission statements need to be realised through developmentobjectives, which in turn are made more specific through objectives, strategies andDraft <strong>2013</strong>/<strong>14</strong> <strong>IDP</strong> <strong>Review</strong> Page <strong>14</strong>3Prepared by Umzinyathi District Municipality22 March <strong>2013</strong>
