The concentration oftourism facilities is mainly around Dundee, and it is estimated that 75% of visitors to thebattlefield sites are domestic tourists. The key to tourism is the Battlefields area thatforms part of broader cultural historical system in central <strong>KZN</strong>. The assessment of thearea has shown some unique environmental features but environmental related tourismsand formal conservation initiatives seem to be minimal.Management MeasureConservation in South Africa is managed through a system of protect areas as set out inthe National Environmental Management Act, No. 107 of 1998 and the NationalEnvironmental Management: Protected Areas Act 57of 2003.
