3.4 Provincial Growth and <strong>Development</strong> StrategyThe province of KwaZulu - Natal has managed to develop the Provincial Growth and<strong>Development</strong> Strategy which was adopted by Cabinet on the 31 August 2011, and has a visionto be achieved by 2030. The Provincial Growth and <strong>Development</strong> Strategy provides a strategicframework for development in the Province; it has seven strategic goals and 30 strategicobjectives, and also key specific targets linked to each strategic goal which have to be achievedby 2030. The main aim of the Provincial Growth and <strong>Development</strong> Strategy is Growing theEconomy for the improvement of the quality of life for all people living in the province ofKwaZulu Natal.PGDS is crucial to: Focus on a clear vision for the province; promote vertical, horizontal and spatial alignment; mobilise all development partners to achieve predetermined development objectives andtargets; and build on the strengths and opportunities of the Province, while addressing weaknessesand threats.Alignment of the Provincial Growth and <strong>Development</strong> Strategy to the municipal sectors is asfollows:Draft <strong>2013</strong>/<strong>14</strong> <strong>IDP</strong> <strong>Review</strong> Page 49Prepared by Umzinyathi District Municipality22 March <strong>2013</strong>
