The concentration of tourismfacilities is mainly around Dundee, and it is estimated that 75% of visitors to the battlefield sitesare domestic tourists. The key to tourism is the Battlefields area that forms part of broadercultural historical system in central <strong>KZN</strong>. The assessment of the area has shown some uniqueenvironmental features but environmental related tourisms and formal conservation initiativesseem to be minimal.Management MeasureConservation in South Africa is managed through a system of protect areas as set out in theNational Environmental Management Act, No. 107 of 1998 and the National EnvironmentalManagement: Protected Areas Act 57of 2003.
