The aim is toprocure additional farmingequipment and implements inorder to establish a fullyfunctional mechanization unitin partnership with theDepartment of AgricultureEnvironmental Affairs andRural Development.Furthermore, the Departmentof Agriculture has beenengaged with an intention toforge strong partnership thatwill enable and build sufficientcapacity for agriculturaldevelopment. Currently werequire a political buy-in fromprovincial leadership to fasttrack the processes.The District Municipalityrecalled 4 tractors fromthe Local Municipalitiesand in addition procureda further 4 tractors andimplements.Formalization ofagreement betweenDAEA and UDM has notyet been finalized. Anapplication for setting upthe mechanization unithas been developed forsubmission to the JobsFund.
