such sales.<br />

Other items of fixed assets e. g. unserviceable furniture-fixture, unserviceable spare parts<br />

of vehicle unserviceable office equipment etc. whereupon no value addition have been made and<br />

have become unserviceable after normal wear & tear and are being sold on much lower price,<br />

whether sales tax is leviable on such items.<br />

Act, 1990.<br />

I am directed to refer to your letter No.STEH/ST/99, dated 12 th April, 1999 on<br />

the subject cited above and to say that as IOLs (Lenses), classifiable under heading<br />

9021.3000, are not exempt from sales tax, the same shall be subjected to the levy at<br />

import stage.<br />

2. However, in case you consume whole of your imported IOLs (Lenses) in<br />

your hospital and do not supply them further to other persons/shops/ hospitals, you are<br />

not required to be registered under the <strong>Sales</strong> <strong>Tax</strong> Act, 1990 as a commercial<br />

importer/local supplier.<br />
