DECISION
The Cabinet considered the Summary dated 10 th December, 1999 submitted by the
Revenue Division on ―Immediate Measures of Reforms in Tax System‖ and approved the
proposals contained in para 3(three) thereof with the modification that a decision on the
withdrawal of custom and sales tax exemptions on construction machinery under the Housing
Scheme and transport sector imports under the Transport Scheme should pend for the time being.

AN
ORDER
to enforce the Sales Tax Act, 1990 in the Northern Areas
Areas;
order:-
WHEREAS it is expedient to adapt and enforce the Sales Tax Act, 1990 in the Northern
NOW, THEREFORE, the Government of Pakistan is pleased to make the following
Short title, extent and commencement.- (1) This Order may be called the Sales
Tax Act, (Enforcement) Order, 1999.
(2) It extends to the whole of the Northern Areas.
(3) It shall come into force at once.
2. Enforcement of the Sales Tax Act, 1990.- The Sales Tax Act, 1990, as in force
immediately before the commencement of this Order, and all amendments which may be made
after such commencement, and all rules, notifications and orders which may have been, or may be
made or issued thereunder shall, as far as practicable, be in force in the Northern Areas.
