Sales Tax Instructions, 2009
Under the Sales Tax Special Procedures, 2006, the commercial importers are
required to submit detailed quarterly statement namely Annex-B and an annual statement
namely Annex-C in the prescribed format. The objective of Annex-B & C is to ensure
payment of sales tax on the basis of actual value addition made by the commercial
importers during a financial year. A number of commercial importers engaged
exclusively in import and subsequent supply of zero-rated items have approached the
Central Board of Revenue with the plea that in their case, there is no question of
subsequent payment of sales tax on the basis of value addition, thus simplified Annex-B
& C may be prescribed for such importers.
2. Keeping in view the genuine plea of the commercial importers engaged
exclusively in import and subsequent local supply of zero-rated items, the Central Board
of Revenue is pleased to prescribe simplified Annex-B & C in the formats given below
for the importers exclusively importing zero-rated items to be submitted under the Sales
Tax Special Procedures Rules, 2006 in lieu of the existing Annex-B & C format. The new
simplified Annex-B & C shall not be applicable for the commercial importers importing
other than zero-rated items.
