C.NO. 1338-M(Sales Tax)/2002 DATED 9 TH MARCH, 2002
SUBJECT:-
ORDER
A complaint often made by the business community against the field formations
is that the visitors do not have an easy access to the tax officials. It is alleged that a visitor
has to wait endlessly before he is called in and even then he is not properly heard and no
meaningful action is taken to address his problem.
2. In order to remove this long standing grievance it has been decided by
the Advisory Council to the Revenue Division that on all working days the visitors will
have unhindered access to the tax officials during 10.00 – 12.00 hours. During these two
hours a visitor will not be required to send a chit/card before entering the office of the
concerned official. The tax officials will meet the visitors (one by one), give them a
patient hearing and take prompt action to redress their grievance. If a person visits sales
tax office before or after the specified hours he may seek prior appointment or send a
chit/card indicating the purpose of his visit and in that case too he will be called and
heard by the concerned official at the earliest.
3. The Collectors will ensure that the aforesaid instructions are fully
complied with.
4. All concerned may please be informed that a complaint of discourtesy or
lack of consideration on the part of a tax official will be viewed seriously by the Board.
