claimed, amount sanctioned, the amount of claim remaining in balance and the current<br />

status of the claim.<br />

The above development will make the process of payment of refund transparent and it<br />

will also ensure that claims are processed in the same order in which they are filed thus<br />

extending uniform and equitable treatment to all taxpayers.<br />

The taxpayers who want to ascertain the status of their claims can access the relevant link<br />

―<strong>Sales</strong> <strong>Tax</strong> Online Refund inquiry System‖ on the sales tax page of CBR‘s website i.e.<br />

‗www.cbr.gov.pk/newst/‘. By clicking the above mentioned link and providing either<br />

their claim number or registration number or the name of company, the taxpayers will<br />

have access to the data of all their refund claims filed on or after 1 st March 2006. The<br />

access to such data will not only enable the taxpayers to ascertain the status of their<br />

claims but it also enables him to ensure that his claim is not being ignored by assigning<br />

priority to a claim filed later in the same Collectorate.<br />

FACILITATION IN SALES TAX REGISTRATION<br />

I am directed to convey that the <strong>Sales</strong> <strong>Tax</strong> Wing has decided to extend<br />

facilitation in the <strong>Sales</strong> <strong>Tax</strong> Registration system by implementing the following<br />

measures:-<br />

Receiving Registration Applications directly in Central Registration Office<br />

through e-mail.<br />

Minimize the role of Local Registration Offices in Registration.<br />

Update of Registration Process on the <strong>Sales</strong> <strong>Tax</strong> Website.<br />

Re-Engineering of the business processes, enabling the CRO to effect registration<br />

with out the support of LROs or with minimum support from field formations.<br />

2. According to the proposed arrangements, the CRO will receive the<br />

application forms directly through e-mail or by ordinary mail. Application, thus received,<br />

would be coded and key punched, simultaneously. Information update will be provided to<br />

the applicants through electronic media i.e. mail and <strong>Sales</strong> <strong>Tax</strong> Website. In this way all<br />

those jobs previously done in the LRO would be performed in the CRO, with the<br />

objective to eliminate the difficulties in registration system at the level of LRO.<br />

3. To cope with this workload the <strong>Sales</strong> <strong>Tax</strong> Wing requires the additional<br />

Staff and working space to accommodate this staff and additional documents etc.<br />

Accordingly, it is requested that Room No.146 may be please made available to the CRO,<br />

so that the work on the new assignment can proceed smoothly.
