MAINTENANCE AND REGULAR ENTERING AND UPDATING<br />

OF THE REGISTERS PRESCRIBED AS ANNEX 1, 2, 3 & 4 OF<br />

THE SALES TAX CIRCULAR NO.1/97 DATED 12.01.1997.<br />

I have been informed that in most of the Collectorates either the registers<br />

prescribed under Annex-1, 2, 3, & 4 of the <strong>Sales</strong> <strong>Tax</strong> Circular No.1/97 dated 12.01.1997<br />

are not maintained, if maintained, are not updated promptly and regularly and also not<br />

―posted in computer‖ as required under clause (3), (6) and (7) of the said Circular. As a<br />

result, this vital information is maintained manually on ad-hoc basis and every time, a<br />

new figures/statement is sent to CBR causing embarrassment.<br />

2. I advise you to ensure that these Registers their entries and their postings<br />

in your Computers are updated and completed by 31.12.1999. From 01.01.2000, all<br />

concerned i.e. the respective Asstt. Collector/Deputy Collector I/c, the Joint<br />

Director/System Analyst/Computer Programmer I/c of the Collectorate Computer shall<br />

be personally responsible for weekly inspection of these documents to ensure that these<br />

are being maintained and also being regularly updated.<br />

3. The Collector and Addl. Collector should also inspect these documents<br />

and computer postings at least once in a quarter and a month, respectively. Noncompliance<br />

shall be viewed very SERIOUSLY by the CBR.<br />
