Article 89: Invalidity of Claims of Sovereignty Over<br />

the High Seas.<br />

No State may validly purport to subject any part of<br />

the high seas to its sovereignty.<br />

Article 90: Right of Navigation.<br />

Every State, whether coastal or l<strong>and</strong>-locked, has<br />

the right to sail ships fly<strong>in</strong>g its flag on the high seas.<br />

Article 301: Peaceful Uses of the Seas.<br />

In exercis<strong>in</strong>g their rights <strong>and</strong> perform<strong>in</strong>g their duties<br />

under this Convention, <strong>States</strong> Parties shall refra<strong>in</strong><br />

from any threat or use of force aga<strong>in</strong>st the territorial<br />

<strong>in</strong>tegrity or political <strong>in</strong>dependence of any State, or<br />

<strong>in</strong> any other manner <strong>in</strong>consistent with the pr<strong>in</strong>ciples<br />

of <strong>in</strong>ternational law embodied <strong>in</strong> the Charter of the<br />

<strong>United</strong> Nations.<br />
