Numbers 0 - 99
I. "All the Power that ever was or will be is here
now." [Saying assigned to 0 of the Pattern on the
Trestleboard]
11. Absolute unity. The zero is nothing, that is,
no-thing and is therefore a symbol of the power
of life and potencies of growth and
development.. The number zero comes before
any other number, and is a symbol of all
beginnings. It is nothing we can measure,
because it is limitless. Any number that is
divided by zero is not definable. The 0 sign
looks like an egg, please note the symbol on the
upper left hand corner on Key 13, Death.
I. The Monad
1 (prime)
11. Names for the number 1 : see 12, 21, 37, 397,
422 or 1552,620,72 1,559,736,837.
111. The number one is the first definite quanity.
Eliphas Levi says: Unity may be conceived as
relative, manifested, possessing duality, the
beginning of numerical sequence. The number
one is the initial impulse, initial movement, the
beginning of a phase of manifested power. Note
by its shape the number one is a phallic symbol,
and suggest the ideas of to thrust, insert, and lead
in to its meanings.
IV. "I am a center of expression for the Primal
Will-to-Good, which eternally creates and
sustains the universe." [lSt Saying of the Pattern
on the Trestleboard]
8 Aleph. bull or ox. Oxen are symbols of the
taming of natural forces. Culture power and
Super-consciousness. Thus the letter Aleph is a
symbol of creative energy, and of the vital
principles of living creatures. This vital
principle comes to us in physical form as the
radiant energy from the sun and is asociated with
the Key 0, the Fool. Aleph is symbolic of the
element Air and breath. The noun "fool," is
derived from the Latin follis, meaning a "bag of
wind". Aleph is the Path of the Fiery of
Scintillating Intelligence, linking Kether and
Chokmah on the Tree of Life. See 2 14,37,111.
Aleph means oxen. Untill the turn of the century
oxen (and horses) provided the power of
movement, especially in agriculture. Agriculture
is the basis of civilization. Aleph is a symbol of
man using the forces available to him to adapt
them to his own purposes.
I. Rabbi Ginsburgh says: "The union of higher
reality, the upper Yod, with the lower reality, the
lower Yod, by means of the connecting Vav, of
Torah, is the ultimate secret of the letter Aleph."
[The Alef-Beit,]
11. "The first character of the alphabet in nearly
all know idioms. As symbolic image it represents
universal man, mankind, the ruling being of the
earth. In its hieroglyphic acceptation, it
characterizes unity, the central point, the abstract
principle of a thing. As sign, it expresses power,
stability, continuity. Some grammarians make it
express a kind of superlative as in Arabic; but
this is only a result of its power as sign. On some
rare occasions it takes the place of the emphatic
article n either at the beginning or at the end of
the words. The rabbis use it as a sort of article. It
is often added at the head of words as redundant
vowel, to make them more sonorous and to add
to their expression." [d 'Olivet, 1976, p. 287.1
111. "Aleph (1): And behold: In this immense
Dwelling, within these innumerable dwellings,
everywhere there is creative immanence,
spontaneous, always fresh and new; imperishable
pulsation of life; recurrent sparks; life-death,
life-death, death and resurrection: elusive,
timeless. Its manifestation can be perceived and
thought of only in this manner.
The non-thinkable has for its symbol the Aleph
(1). The Aleph is always itself and never itself. It
is ever recurring, though never the same. Aleph
creates, it is creation, it is not created, yet it
exists. It has no existence because all existence is
continuous. It has no memory, having no past. It
has no purpose, having no future. If one retains
it, it remains retained. If one buries it, it remains
buried. If one sets aside its obstacles, it is action.
It breaks down resistances, though resistances
