entire land of Cush." This land is connected with<br />

Ethiopia or Abyssinia. In Isaiah 18: 1 : "Woe to<br />

the land Shadowing with wings, which is beyond<br />

the rivers of Ethiopia (Cush). A son of Ham in<br />

Genesis 10:6. Cush means "black or dark-<br />

colored" [Ancient Faiths VI, p.4171 Ham is<br />

connected with Kehm or Egypt<br />

(subconsciousness). Gihon is "a stream" Eden is<br />

"time", the garden of delight. The influence from<br />

Kether, which fashions the son of God is seen by<br />

the materialist as the mechanical force (Kaph)<br />

behind manifestation, but (Vav) intuition guides<br />

the seeker to direct knowledge of the secret fire<br />

of regeneration (Shin). The son is conceived in<br />

the "darkness of Egypt" and brought through the<br />

stream of consciousness from time, into the<br />

alchemical earth as the source of all<br />

manifestation. [Here recall that Capricorn is a<br />

cardinal earth sing, ruled by Saturn and with<br />

principles of manifestation in the immediate<br />

present, and is related to the symbol of Mercury<br />

on the devil's belly in Key 15. The self of man is<br />

seen to be dominated by the elements composing<br />
