both moist and warm; there the dissolution of its
liquid must be accomplished while its substance
remains unimpaired. These are the words of

meditation, the process whereby the wise attain

Zohar (p. 10) states that Tzaddi consist of a nun
(Fish) surmounted by a Yod (hand), thus
representing together the male and female
principles of creation. Using Tzaddi, the fish-
hook via meditation, raises Nun, the fish, out of
the "Water" or subconsciousness into the region
of self-conscious awareness; it also raises the
Scorpio force to awaken the higher brain centers.

I. The letter Tzaddi is looks like a small Kaph,
which forms the lower part of the letter,
combined with two Yods. Thus the secret value
of Tzaddo is Kaph (20) plus two Yods (2x10) or
40. This indicates a connection between Tzaddi
and Mem (0, 40). Note that Aquarius (attributed
to Tzaddi) means water-bearer and Mem means
water. Note that the function of meditation
serves to bring about the changes of personal
consciousness which leads to the mental reversal
pictured in Key 12 (The Hanged Man),
corresponding to Mem. The Letter-name am
adds to 90, which is value of the letter Tzaddi.
Saturn rules Aquarius, and Aquarius among the
Holy Living Creatures, wears the face of the
man, and that is of Adam. In the Tarot the 12"
Key is the suspended Adam, and when
meditation reaches its perfection the Stable
Intelligence is manifest, and nothing can move

to teach that guarding one's mouth from slander,
gossip, foul language, and so on, is the means by
which one attains the level of the Tzadik, the
