with Leo, with the Intelligence of the Secret of
All Spiritual Activities, with the direction North-
Above on the Cube of Space, and with
alchemical digestion (41 9).
1. Teth means snake or serpent (see Appendix
14) and is a symbol of immortality and eterniqi.
The form of the Teth is a coiled serpent and is a
symbol of the Great Magical Agent. The motion
of the Great Magical Agent is serpentine. It is
wavy, undulating, and like a spiral.
11. Rabbi Ginsburgh: The form of Teth is
"inverted," thus symbolizing hidden, inverted
good-as expressed in the Zohar, "its good is
hidden within it." The form of the lener Teth
symbolizes the union of the groom and the bridle
consummating with conception. The secret of th~e
Teth (numerically equivalent to nine, the nine
months of pregnancy) is the power of the mother
to carry her inner, concealed good--the fetus-
through the period of pregnancy. [The Alef-Beit]
111. "This character, as consonant, belongs to the
dental sound. As symbolic image it represen1:s
the shelter of man; the roof that he raises to
protect him; his shield. As grammatical sign it is
that of resistance and protection. It serves as link
between '1 and 8, and partakes of their
properties, but in an inferior degree." [d701ivet,
1976, p. 356.1
IV. "Tayt, as archetype of the primeval female
energy, draws its life from Hhayt and t)uilds it
gradually into structures." [Suraes, 1992, p. 63.1
V. Teth, meaning a 'serpent', is the number nine.
In the later Osirian Cults the serpent was equated
with solar-phallic energy in the form of the
lion-serpent which generated the spermatozoon.
In the Draconian Tradition, however, Teth is the
serpent symbolic of the female who periodically
sloughs her old body as does tlie snake its skin.
Hence, nine is the number of rejuvenation an'd
renewal. [Grant, 1994, p. 20.1
