before the period when the Jews became familiar

When we examine diligently into the use of the
word fbw, in the Old Testament, we alight upon
some remarkable facts. Satan is translated
'adversary' in Numbers 22:22, 32; 1 Samuel
29:4; 2 Samuel 19:22, (23); 1 Kings 5:4 (IS),
1 1 : 14, 23, 25. Consulting these texts we find,
literally, 'an angle of the Lord' is Satan; that
David might become Satan if he went to fight;
That Abishai and Joab were Satanic.. . whilst, if
we turn successively to 2 Samuel 24:1, and 1
Chronicles 2 1 : 1, we recognize that astounding
fact that Satan and Jehovah are identical! Peter,
the rock upon which the Christian church is said
to have been built was designated 'Satan' by the
his master (Matthew 26:23). Jesus teaches his
disciples to pray to their Almighty father
(Matthew 6:13), 'lead us not into temptation;'
whilst James 1 : 13 declares that God tempts no
man. These apparent discrepancies may be
reconciled by comparing Jehovah and Satan to
the Hindu Siva, who is both creator and
