containing supernal inscriptions of the secret<br />

wisdom, and 72 branches of wisdom,<br />

expounding so as to show the formation of 670<br />

inscriptions of higher mysteries. In the middle of<br />

the book was a secret writing explaining the<br />

1500 keys which were not revealed even to the<br />

Holy Angels, and all of which were locked up in<br />

this book until it came into the hands of Adam.[<br />

P'lM Ephraim. double fruit. The Tribe of<br />

Israel corresponding to Vav (Taurus), The<br />

Hierophant. The Hierophant is one<br />

personification of the Great Teacher, also<br />

symbolized by the Archangel Ratziel. Associated<br />

with alchemical Congelation, the 2"* stage of the<br />

Great Work. The standard of this tribe was an ox.<br />

Ephraim was the second son of Joseph<br />

('Multiplier"), Menasseh being the first-born in<br />

Deuteronomy 29:7, Mennaseh is referred to as a<br />

"half-tribe." see 95, 30, 570, 501, 54, 7 Genesis<br />

4 1 :52 and Deuteronomy 34: 17.<br />

~ W H Tamarisk tree, a "grove". One of the<br />

several cryptic words in the magical language, of<br />

which 1% is the most important. Its first two<br />

letters spell WH, aysh, fire. The letters Shin and<br />

Lamed spell fiW, Shal, "of, belonging to." Thus<br />

the mystical significance has to do with the fire<br />

of illumination which consumes error.<br />

Rosenroth in K.D.L.C.K. (p. 165) gives arbor<br />

rnagna (great tree), and cites Genesis 21:33:<br />

"Abraham planted a Tamarisk tree in Beersheba,<br />

and there he called upon the name of the Lord,<br />

the eternal God."<br />

Paul Case: It is the great tree Abraham planted at<br />

Beer-sheba ("well of the covenant", or of seven =<br />

divine name of Hod'.) "Note % conceals WH:<br />

fire; foundation = ground, and 5 : erring,<br />

Also used in Isaiah 26"19: "(For thy dew is as<br />

the shades." From ND'I to heal, cure. Venus<br />

(creative imagination) which is exalted in Taurus<br />

(the "earth") cures the maladies of false images<br />

and desires (the "shades").<br />

courses fought against Sisera." In Judges 4:2, a<br />

captain of the army of King Jabin of Canaan,<br />

who dwelt in Hardsheth of the gentiles.<br />

Hardsheth means: "the enchanters." From HVSh,<br />

to engrave, cut, plough, to shine, to grow, to<br />

whisper or mutter (compare with Isaiah 8:18,<br />

Wizards that peep and mutter), to be soft or<br />

viscous, like clay, loam, a forest, deaf, a worker<br />

in brass, a cutting tool. All these meanings relate<br />

to Venus and to Taurus. Sisera is typical of<br />

inharmonious desires.<br />

vacant; free, without work; unmarried man. This<br />

last implies control and direction of the life-
