1U Shin. tooth, fang. Refers of cosmic fire
(prana). One of the three "Mother Letters"
attributed to the Element Fire. The sound of the
letter, "sh!" is an admonition to silence and the
41h occult maxium "Be Silent." see 360, 8 14, 24.
I. The character of Shin is composed of three
tounges of flame (Yod) rising from a firery base
(Vav). Thus the secret value of Shin is 36 [3
Yods (30) and Vav (6)]. Thirty-six is the
extension of 8, and 8 is Cheth (n, see Book of
Tokens meditation on Cheth. Key 20 depicts the
liberation described). The Egyptian hieroglyph
for the sound 'sh" is an undulation garden.

venomous serpent, because the tooth (Shin)
breaks down forms to begin the process of
assimilation. The old must die before the new
man may be born. Thirty-six is also 6 x 6 or the
magic square (see Appendix 6) of Tiphareth.
What is born anew is the Son (Sun) in Tiphareth.
111. "The form of the letter Shin reminds one of a
mouth full of teeth. Unlike the letter Peh which
is turned to eat whatever it finds on its level, the
Shin is turned upwards to receive nourishment
from on high. It is thus the higher octave if what

V. Rabbi Glazerson: "According to the Zohar,
the letter Shin is called "the letter of truth." The
three branches represent the three aspects of the
truth about man: (I) he possesses a spiritual soul
(Neshamah), (2) a spirit (Rauch), and (3) bodily
soul (Nefesh)." [Letters of Fire].

sibilant sound, and depicts in an onomatopoetic
manner, light movements, sounds durable and

similar to a powerful breath which vivifies and

Maybe understood as the Life-breath has seven
