scholars having been apparently carried on in part of the
Hospital house from 1727 for nearly 30 years, and that the
New Academy was opened about 1792.
Returning now to 1778, the Session appointed as
successor to Mr William Murray, Mr George Scheviz, on
lOth November, 1778, Mr John Grant being at the same
time appointed Treasurer on Duncan's Mortification, or
Reparation Treasurer—the former died apparently in 1788,
the latter in 1787.
