This sub-theme raises awareness about the need for reliability across all components of the telecommunications infrastructure. The reliability of the infrastructure is a composite of the reliability of all the various components, including the telephone network, the broadband digital network, the satellite network and Internet Service Providers (ISPs), among others. Government leaders must be aware of the interdependencies among all of these components and the need to pay attention to the reliability of these components in a consistent and ongoing way. The statements draw attention to the idea that overall reliability of the telecommunications infrastructure is based on the reliability of each of the component parts and that the operation of each of these components within specific regions or sectors must be considered independently as well as collectively. 1 Local Area Networks (LANs) in government offices are reliable.
