provides options for personality development. By means of educational play, theatrical pedagogy
and experiential education, an early concept of urban learning is presented and executed. Soft
skills, such as capacity for teamwork, decision-making ability, communication and empathy are to
be made experience able for the participants and can be exercised in the learning section „City“.
The learners are motivated to act actively, interactively and communicatively. The activities should
challenge the participants and allow for a change in perspective. The main principle involves the
consolidation and deepening of the events and experiences by subsequent reflection. Over time
applications of the different methods are to be highlighted and compared. Urban Learning is actionoriented
and finds multiple uses in institutions of non-formal education. The participants have the
opportunity to help shape the design of the course in the beginning phase. Emphasis can be placed
on experiential education-oriented activities, on multimedia-based installations or on the creation of
an animated film with urban objects. Experiences, creativity, imagination, curiosity and joy will be
set free by the exploration of the city. Experiential opportunities and activities in the city are varied
and the character-building possibilities are to be easy and effective.
