ayant une compétence particulière dans l’exploration sonore. Nous enseignerons d’abord aux
participants quelques bases de technique vocale afin d’apprendre à ne pas fatiguer sa voix et à
utiliser un microphone. Nous exploiterons par la suite diverses formes d’expression vocale :
chansons diverses dans plusieurs langues européennes, onomatopées, sons, percussions vocales
(beatbox)… Le but étant de changer de regard vis-à-vis du « bien » ou du « mal » chanter et de
prouver qu’il est toujours possible de faire de la musique ensemble sans « savoir faire ». Des pièces
vocales basées sur une trame de départ enrichies d’improvisation seront ainsi préparées en
répétition. Un ingénieur du son présentera aux participants les possibilités offertes par la musique
amplifiée et les machines de sample et d’effets dont on dispose pour enrichir une performance
vocale en temps réel. Il leur présentera ensuite le dispositif d’amplification original mis en place
pour cet atelier : un ensemble de hauts parleurs répartis dans l’espace permettant de faire circuler les
différentes voix en différents points. Les participants seront alors répartis en trois groupes : un
premier groupe qui sera équipé de micros sans fil réalisera la pièce vocale en déambulant dans
l'espace, un second groupe déambulera dans l'espace en se concentrant sur son ressenti, jouant le
rôle du public et un troisième groupe assistera l'ingénieur du son à la régie. Les rôles seront ensuite
intervertis. Après chaque session d'exploration, un point à chaud sera fait entre les groupes avec les
animateurs pour noter le ressenti de chacun et décider des pistes à creuser ou à abandonner. Une
restitution publique sera organisée durant la dernière après-midi de l'atelier.
The workshop aims to explore vocal music as a way of communicating with others beyond the
basic meaning of the words used, based above all on new acoustic sensations. The workshop will
be led by a professional actor-singer with experience in vocal coaching, an artistic director from the
Frères Poussière association and a sound engineer who specializes in acoustic exploration. We will
start by teaching the basics of vocal technique so participants do not wear out their voice and can
learn to use a microphone. We will then explore different forms of vocal expression, including
songs in different European languages, onomatopoeia, sounds, beatboxing and so on. The goal is to
change participants’ view of what constitutes ‘good’ or bad’ singing and demonstrate that the group
can make music together without requiring any specialist knowledge. During rehearsals, we will
start from a basic frame and then improvise around it. A sound engineer will show participants what
can be achieved using amplification and sampling machines to enrich their performance in real
time. The engineer will also demonstrate the innovative sound installation created for the workshop,
a set of speakers spread around the performance space that can produce different voices in different
areas. The participants will be split into three groups: the first will work with wireless microphones
and will perform a vocal piece while moving around the performance space; the second will follow,
taking the place of the audience and paying attention to the sounds they hear and the third will work
with the engineer at the sound desk. The different groups will all change places, and after each
session, a debriefing will be held with all three groups and the workshop leaders to decide which
elements should be maintained and which should be abandoned. A public performance will be held
during the final afternoon of the workshop.
