English and German is designed that way that all participants will have time to get to know each
other and their countries of origin very well. Then the topic „successful start in kindergarten and
school“ will be introduced to the group. During the workshop the participants will tackle the
questions "which experience did the participants from different European countries make with
transitions?", „which rights and obligations do parents have in Europe in respect to education and
training of their children?“, „which attitude do I have towards my child and towards the teachers?“.
The participants will bring along children books from their countries about the topic "starting
school" in order to learn from each other. The next step will be a lecture about the elements of
successful transitions. The participants cooperate in the development of activities for the support of
their children in transition to a formal educational institution. Then the participants will reflect on
their own expectations and wishes as well as the children's ones. The next topic will be cooperation
between parents and teachers with many examples from European countries. During this session the
question of voluntary parent participation will be tackled. A session on healthy balanced diet for
kindergarten children and pupils will terminate the workshop.
