Target Group + Translation:<br />

Target group(s): Adult people from Europe especially unemployed people from rural or other<br />

disadvantaged areas, adults with lower level of education, seniors, youth workers and teachers<br />

involved in adult education. Expected number of participants: 20<br />

Main activities Programme + Programme translation:<br />

- Introduction of the participants’ country / region<br />

- Private history: tour to a Village Museum<br />

- traditional peasant society and lifestyle.<br />

- Discussions based on the museum experience: folk art and sustainable use of resources in<br />

traditional societies<br />

- Comparing folk art in the participants’ countries: visual (pictures, photos, books, handmade<br />

objects) and/or multimedia tools (presentation, video) to show function, forms, motives and<br />

symbolism of folk<br />

- Handicraft as local service and tourism business: Visit to a pottery study of techniques, motives<br />

and their meaning<br />

- Glass painting: basic skills on painting with special paints on glass different motives, pictures<br />

- Felt - making and weaving: Practice - participants make felt and woven objects (decoration, toys,<br />

etc.)<br />

- Evaluation: Participants will exhibit the artistic objects created during the workshop and will<br />

create an illustrated report of the workshop.<br />

Expected outputs (especially in terms of the learning outcomes for the participants)<br />

Participants will: - gain insight into the traditional world of peasant society – common roots of all<br />

European cultures - understand common structure, content and meaning of folk art and handicraft in<br />

Europe - gain competences in glass painting, felt - making and weaving - create artistic pieces of<br />

work individually: design, selecting materials, selecting methods, creating an artistic object - learn<br />

about sustainable use of resources, rural and ecological tourism discover true cultural and touristic<br />

values of Slovakia<br />
