Target group(s): Adult people from Europe especially unemployed people from rural or other
disadvantaged areas, adults with lower level of education, seniors, youth workers and teachers
involved in adult education. Expected number of participants: 20
Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
- Introduction of the participants’ country / region
- Private history: tour to a Village Museum
- traditional peasant society and lifestyle.
- Discussions based on the museum experience: folk art and sustainable use of resources in
traditional societies
- Comparing folk art in the participants’ countries: visual (pictures, photos, books, handmade
objects) and/or multimedia tools (presentation, video) to show function, forms, motives and
symbolism of folk
- Handicraft as local service and tourism business: Visit to a pottery study of techniques, motives
and their meaning
- Glass painting: basic skills on painting with special paints on glass different motives, pictures
- Felt - making and weaving: Practice - participants make felt and woven objects (decoration, toys,
etc.)
- Evaluation: Participants will exhibit the artistic objects created during the workshop and will
create an illustrated report of the workshop.
Expected outputs (especially in terms of the learning outcomes for the participants)
Participants will: - gain insight into the traditional world of peasant society – common roots of all
European cultures - understand common structure, content and meaning of folk art and handicraft in
Europe - gain competences in glass painting, felt - making and weaving - create artistic pieces of
work individually: design, selecting materials, selecting methods, creating an artistic object - learn
about sustainable use of resources, rural and ecological tourism discover true cultural and touristic
values of Slovakia
