The workshop Christmas International Singing (CIS) invites to learn about tradition of Christmas
music in Europe but especially to sing Christmas carols in an international group of amateur
singers. It is addressed to all people singing in amateur choirs.
Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
The workshop proposes two types of approaches:
1) heoretic approach – 9 thematic modules consisting of 11 speeches (45-minutes each)
2) practical approach
- 14 modules of vocal rehearsals (about 2-3 hours each)
- individual singing lessons (2-3 hours of vocal techniques training for each learner)
- closing concert for the end of the workshop
The theoretic modules will present the Advent and Christmas music (classical music, Christmas
carols and traditional Christmas songs). We will talk about history of this music, try to find its
specificity and place in the musical tradition. The speeches will be illustrated with music .
During the rehearsals the participants will learn 11 Christmas carols (6 Polish and 5 from other
European countries). The carols will be presented at the final concert open to the public.
