The Workshop will focus on making music together. For instance, each participant will present a
song from his or her country for everybody to learn and rehearse together. This gives people the
chance to share their knowledge of cultural aspects of the music and learn new material. During the
five-day Workshop daily teaching sessions are planned (all participants together) with rehearsals in
smaller bands. At the end of each day, the bands will present their results in the round. Optionally,
the results of the daily music-making sessions can be audio recorded for joint analysis. This form of
external feedback allows each participant to reflect upon and learn from his or her “band
contribution”. The culmination and highlight of the Workshop is a public performance in a local
cultural centre. The session format will bring together the varying musical skills and styles of
teachers and participants as well as local musicians who enjoy playing with musicians from other
countries. This performance will be publicly announced and advertised. To round off and
complement the Workshop programme, a cultural programme in the Passau region is also offered.
The Workshop language is English. Basic knowledge of English is sufficient.
