Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
With the workshop “Cooking Europe” organisers aim to provide adults from European countries
with opportunities for intercultural and media education through exploring food culture, cooking,
web blogging, photography, decorating tables and interactions in international group.
Workshop is based on principles of experiential learning and therefore people will achieve the
objectives by actually improving skills in the areas related to cooking, photography, web blogging
and intercultural communication.
Programme incorporates variety of educational and experiential activities:
Exploring culture of food in Europe; cooking in international groups; inputs and workshops on
creating blogs for recipes and making photos of meals; workshops about table decor; learning from
sommelier on food and beverages matching; learning to prepare traditional meals from Lithuania
and other participants’ countries; input from slow-food movement representatives and exploration
of various understanding of quality cooking and food matching; preparing open community lunch
for 30 people as a practice of acquired skills; and other activities.
Participants are expected to develop their intercultural competence, to widen understanding and
developing skills on cooking meals from various European countries; to develop media and ICT
competence on creating content for on-line cooking blogs; to develop competence on food and
beverage matching, table decor and art of tasting. The set of acquired skills can be a good basis for
personal recipe blogs or small entrepreneurial initiatives.
