NACDS Education Foundation Scholarship.<br />
Established in 1977 by the National Association<br />
of Chain Drug Stores, this scholarship is to<br />
go to a pharmacy student in his or her third<br />
or fourth year that has expressed an interest in<br />
community pharmacy.<br />
Northeast Indiana Pharmacist Association<br />
Scholarship. Funds from the Northeast<br />
Indiana Pharmacist Association provide annual<br />
awards that benefit students in the College of<br />
Pharmacy and Health Sciences.<br />
John L. Petranek Memorial Scholarship.<br />
Irene Petranek established this fund through<br />
her estate in memory of her husband John<br />
L. Petranek, Class of 1932, a pharmacist and<br />
business owner. It provides tuition assistance for<br />
deserving students in the College of Pharmacy<br />
and Health Sciences.<br />
Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Co. Scholarship.<br />
Underwritten by Pharmacists Mutual Insurance<br />
Companies, this scholarship is given to students<br />
who demonstrate high scholarship in beginning<br />
pharmaceutics courses.<br />
Richard R. Powis Endowed Scholarship. This<br />
scholarship was established by Richard Powis,<br />
Class of 1974, a former member of the College<br />
of Pharmacy’s Board of Visitors and an active<br />
supporter of the profession. The recipient will<br />
be chosen based on merit by the College of<br />
Pharmacy and Health Sciences. In addition, the<br />
recipient should indicate an interest in a career<br />
in community pharmacy.<br />
James W. Pyles Pharmacy Scholarship.<br />
This is an annual award to a minority student<br />
studying pharmacy in need of or deserving<br />
assistance.<br />
Ratliff Scholarship. In their desire to encourage<br />
students to pursue a pharmacy career, Mr. and<br />
Mrs. Eugene Ratliff established this scholarship<br />
for the benefit of students who meet the<br />
scholastic criteria of the <strong>University</strong>. Full<br />
consideration also is given to financial need<br />
and the conduct and character of the<br />
recipients. The scholarship is renewable.<br />
scholarship provides support to students in the<br />
professional pharmacy program with preference<br />
given to students who have financial need.<br />
Norman P. Reeves Scholarship. Norman<br />
Pennington Reeves graduated from the<br />
Indianapolis College of Pharmacy in 1936<br />
and received an honorary degree from <strong>Butler</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong> in 1979. In 1982, the Hook Drug<br />
Foundation established this scholarship in<br />
honor of the former CEO of Hook Drugs<br />
Inc. The scholarship provides full tuition to<br />
qualifying students. At <strong>Butler</strong>, these students<br />
must have completed the two-year pre-pharmacy<br />
program. Students must also demonstrate<br />
academic achievement and qualities of<br />
citizenship and leadership as well as an<br />
interest in a career in retail pharmacy.<br />
Denis E. Ribordy Endowed Scholarship.<br />
This fund was established in 2002 by Denis<br />
E. Ribordy, Class of 1952, and Carolyn<br />
McClurg Ribordy, Class of 1954. Mr. Ribordy<br />
is the founder and former president of Ribordy<br />
Drugs, Inc., a 26-store retail chain, and the<br />
former CEO of Ribordy Enterprises. He is a<br />
trustee emeritus of the <strong>Butler</strong> Board of Trustees.<br />
This scholarship provides financial assistance<br />
to deserving students enrolled in the College of<br />
Pharmacy and Health Sciences, with preference<br />
given to a P3 (fifth-year) or P4 (sixth-year) student<br />
who is interested in community pharmacy.<br />
Carolyn McClurg Ribordy Endowed Scholarship.<br />
This fund was established in 2002 by<br />
Denis E. Ribordy, Class of 1952, and Carolyn<br />
McClurg Ribordy, Class of 1954. Mrs. Ribordy<br />
is a retired registered pharmacist who with her<br />
husband built Ribordy Drugs, Inc., a 26-store<br />
retail chain. The Ribordys have been loyal,<br />
generous and active <strong>Butler</strong> alumni. This scholarship<br />
provides financial assistance to deserving<br />
students enrolled in the College of Pharmacy<br />
and Health Sciences, with preference given<br />
to a P3 (sixth-year) student who is interested<br />
in community pharmacy in a retail or local<br />
pharmacy setting in which the pharmacist<br />
has direct daily contact with customers.<br />
Rudolph J. Roehl Scholarship. Mildred A.<br />
Roehl, through a bequest in her will, established<br />
an endowed scholarship fund in memory of<br />
her husband Rudolph J. Roehl, Class of 1938.<br />
Worthy students in the College of Pharmacy<br />
and Health Sciences will benefit from this<br />
scholarship.<br />
Ralph M. Reahard Endowed Scholarship.<br />
This fund was endowed by a gift from the<br />
estate of civic leader and philanthropist Sally<br />
Reahard in honor of her father. Ralph Reahard<br />
was a personal friend and classmate of Eli Lilly<br />
at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and a<br />
vice president at Eli Lilly and Company. This<br />
