Arthur W. Lamb Student Assistance Fund.<br />
The estate of Arthur W. Lamb funded this<br />
scholarship for deserving and talented students<br />
of vocal or instrumental music. Mr. Lamb was a<br />
self-employed real estate broker in Indianapolis<br />
for 31 years.<br />
Rosemary Lang Honor Award. The award is<br />
endowed by a gift from the family of Rosemary<br />
Lang, a valued faculty member in the Jordan<br />
College of Fine Arts. She received her bachelor’s<br />
degree in music education in 1947 and her<br />
master of music degree in 1952. One or more<br />
students in woodwind study will be honored<br />
annually. The undergraduate students may be<br />
third- or fourth-year, full-time students and<br />
should have a minimum grade point average<br />
of 2.5 and demonstrate financial need.<br />
Elma Jackson Lemley Music Scholarship.<br />
Elma Jackson Lemley was an accomplished<br />
violinist and former student in the Jordan<br />
College of Fine Arts who contributed to the<br />
cultural and civic life of Indianapolis. Her<br />
husband Fred C. Lemley, who attended <strong>Butler</strong>,<br />
designated scholarships to be presented to two<br />
young women who are violin students.<br />
Sophia Ann Rector Magruder Scholarship.<br />
This endowment honors the memory of Sophia<br />
Ann Rector Magruder, a student of the marimba<br />
at Jordan Conservatory from 1941 to 1942.<br />
She also studied with private instructors in New<br />
York City. She later became accomplished on<br />
the vibes and performed throughout the United<br />
States. The recipient should take a serious interest<br />
in becoming not only a technically good<br />
musician but also one with the ability to play<br />
with feeling. Recipients shall be female students<br />
studying instrumental music in Jordan College<br />
of Fine Arts with preference given to marimba<br />
or vibes players who have demonstrated the<br />
capacity to achieve educational and professional<br />
goals and the initiative to seek opportunities to<br />
further their progress.<br />

Wind Ensemble.<br />
Martin Marks Endowed Music Scholarship.<br />
Jeffrey Marks, Class of 1974, and Christina<br />
Stewart Marks, Class of 1975, established this<br />
scholarship to honor Jeffrey’s late father. Music<br />
educator Martin S. Marks, Class of 1952 and<br />
M.M. ’54, was a professor of music at <strong>Butler</strong><br />
for 24 years. The scholarship benefits students<br />
in the Jordan College of Fine Arts, with<br />
preference given to a music student or students<br />
who win JCFA’s concerto competition to play<br />
with the <strong>Butler</strong> Symphony Orchestra. If the<br />
competition is not held, preference is given<br />
to a student majoring in piano, and further<br />
preference is given to students from Indiana.<br />
Gloria H. McDaniel Memorial Performance<br />
Scholarship in Harp. This award is given<br />
through the auspices of Sigma Alpha Iota. The<br />
award was established by Gloria’s husband Dr.<br />
Edwin McDaniel to honor his wife. It is based<br />
on an audition. Recipients should be sophomores<br />
or higher, have a grade point average of at<br />
least 2.5, and be students of the harp who<br />
demonstrate talent and potential for exemplary<br />
achievement. If no harp student qualifies, the<br />
award may be given to another qualified music<br />
student.<br />
Julie Moser Memorial Endowed Scholarship.<br />
The family and friends of Julie Moser established<br />
this scholarship in 1999. Ms. Moser, a vibrant<br />
cabaret vocalist, was a 1980 graduate of the<br />
Jordan College of Fine Arts who lost her life<br />
in an airplane tragedy in 1998. Recipients are<br />
selected by the Department of Music with<br />
input from the Office of Financial Aid. Preference<br />
is given to voice majors, and the scholarship<br />
is awarded annually and may be renewed.<br />
Mulholland Choral Scholarship. James Q.<br />
Mulholland, one of the most published,<br />
performed and commissioned composer/<br />
arrangers of his generation, has provided 43<br />
years of service to <strong>Butler</strong>. He has served as director<br />
of choral activities and a faculty member<br />
for vocal music, music history and composition.<br />
This scholarship is awarded to upper-division<br />
students in vocal music with preference given<br />
to male voices. Recipients are recommended by<br />
the music department chair and the director<br />
of choral activities in cooperation with the<br />
financial aid office. The scholarship may be<br />
used for study abroad opportunities.<br />
Timothy Bryan Manuzzi Family Music<br />
Education Scholarship. Darlene C. and<br />
Nicola C. Manuzzi and Timothy B. Manuzzi,<br />
Class of 1993, and Margaret Cooper Manuzzi,<br />
Class of 1992, established this endowed scholarship<br />
to benefit JCFA students. Recipients will<br />
be selected during their sophomore or junior<br />
years. Preference is given to students who have<br />
a 2.75 grade point average, are members of<br />
a nationally recognized Greek organization,<br />
show financial need, reside in Indiana and are<br />
