Yeager Award in Pharmacy. This is a merit<br />
scholarship for a deserving student in the<br />
College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.<br />
Donors are Richard and Paula Yeager and<br />
Sarah (Yeager) and Blair McKee.<br />
Yeager-McKee Family Endowed Book Fund.<br />
The donors have generously given to the Yeager<br />
Pharmacy Award since 2000. The family<br />
wishes to expand their support by establishing<br />
the book fund. The book fund will provide a<br />
stipend to a student majoring in pharmacy or<br />
a student who demonstrates financial need.<br />
Athletic Awards<br />
*The following is a list of the current<br />
scholarships. Most are used to underwrite<br />
<strong>Butler</strong> <strong>University</strong> financial aid programs and<br />
cannot be applied for directly unless otherwise<br />
indicated.<br />
B-Association Scholarship. The B-Association<br />
is a dues-paying organization of former <strong>Butler</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong> athletic letter winners. This scholarship<br />
assists student athletes in good standing<br />
with the <strong>University</strong>, with preference given to<br />
qualified fifth-year student athletes who have<br />
used up their athletic eligibility and wish to<br />
complete their <strong>Butler</strong> degrees.<br />
Ike and Sarah Batalis Football Student<br />
Assistant/Manager Award. Ike Batalis and<br />
his wife Sarah, a 1987 College of Education<br />
graduate, established this endowed scholarship<br />
to benefit worthy and capable <strong>Butler</strong> students<br />
who also work as assistants/managers in the<br />
<strong>Butler</strong> football program. Recipients shall be<br />
enrolled in a degree-seeking program and be in<br />
good academic standing with the <strong>University</strong>.<br />
Robert C. Blessing Memorial Scholarship.<br />
Students chosen for this scholarship will<br />
demonstrate academic achievement, potential<br />
for leadership and financial need. Preference is<br />
given to students from the Midwest as well as<br />
members of <strong>Butler</strong>’s baseball team.<br />
the <strong>Butler</strong> <strong>University</strong> Board of Trustees. He<br />
served on that board for 70 years, including 52<br />
years as president. Brown was born in 1859 and<br />
died one year shy of his 100th birthday. Mr.<br />
Konold honored his memory by providing in<br />
his will the funds to perpetuate the Hilton<br />
U. Brown Athletic Award as an endowed<br />
scholarship. It is for an outstanding athletic<br />
graduate student with a good mental attitude.<br />
Burger King Scholarship. The Burger King<br />
Corporation created this award to honor the<br />
scholastic and athletic achievements of <strong>Butler</strong><br />
student-athletes. The scholarship is awarded<br />
annually.<br />
Carrie Colglazier Scholarship. Carrie<br />
Colglazier had just completed her freshman<br />
year when she was killed by a drunk driver<br />
in June 2003 at age 19. She was a student<br />
athlete on the <strong>Butler</strong> women’s soccer team and<br />
a member of Alpha Chi Omega. Her parents<br />
John “Bud” and Karen Dietz Colglazier, Class<br />
of 1970, established this scholarship to keep her<br />
spirit alive and to perpetuate her legacy of commitment<br />
and service to family, friends, teammates,<br />
school and community. The recipient<br />
will be a rising sophomore, junior or senior on<br />
the <strong>Butler</strong> women’s soccer team who exemplifies<br />
the <strong>Butler</strong> Way.<br />
Catherine “Cat” Sabrina DeBrosse Scholarship.<br />
This scholarship honors the memory of<br />
Cat DeBrosse, infant daughter of JJ DeBrosse,<br />
Class of 1995, and Emily DeBrosse, Class of<br />
1996. It assists a female athlete in good standing<br />
with the <strong>University</strong> and the athletic department.<br />
The recipient should be a student athlete who<br />
truly plays for the love of the game as a member<br />
of the women’s basketball or soccer team; who<br />
helps those around her rise to their potential;<br />
and who shows dedication, teamwork and<br />
unselfishness.<br />
Joseph Dezelan Scholarship. James P. Lill,<br />
Class of 1970, established this scholarship to<br />
honor the memory of his football coach at<br />
Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Joe<br />
Dezelan, <strong>Butler</strong> Class of 1945. Lill was one<br />
of more than a hundred of Coach Dezelan’s<br />
players who went on to play at <strong>Butler</strong> during<br />
the coach’s 26-year career at Cathedral. This<br />
scholarship supports a student enrolled in a<br />
degree-seeking program, with preference given<br />
to a Cathedral High School graduate who<br />
participates, or who plans to participate,<br />
Hilton U. Brown Athletic Award. David<br />
W. Konold Sr., Class of 1929, excelled in<br />
basketball, football and track. His first wife,<br />
Julia Atherton Brown (who died in 1979) was<br />
a daughter of Hilton U. Brown, who received<br />
his bachelor’s degree in 1880 and a master’s in<br />
1882, both from <strong>Butler</strong>. At age 25, Mr. Brown<br />
became the youngest member ever elected to<br />
