<strong>Butler</strong> Class of 1951 Endowed Scholarship.<br />

Gifts from members and friends of the Class<br />

of 1951 made possible this scholarship, which<br />

provides financial assistance to deserving<br />

<strong>Butler</strong> students. Preference is given to full-time<br />

students in good standing with the <strong>University</strong><br />

who maintain a cumulative grade point average<br />

of 3.0 or better.<br />

Class of 1953 Scholarship. Members and<br />

friends of the Class of 1953 established this<br />

scholarship to provide financial assistance to<br />

deserving <strong>Butler</strong> students. Preference is given<br />

to full-time students in good standing with the<br />

<strong>University</strong> who maintain a cumulative grade<br />

point average of 3.0 or better.<br />

<strong>Butler</strong> Class of 1955 Scholarship. Members<br />

of the Class of 1955 wished to provide financial<br />

assistance to deserving students attending <strong>Butler</strong><br />

by establishing this scholarship. Preference is<br />

given to full-time students in good standing<br />

with the <strong>University</strong> who maintain a cumulative<br />

grade point average of 3.0 or better.<br />

Class of 1980 Sesquicentennial Scholarship.<br />

Members and friends of the Class of 1980<br />

established this scholarship to provide financial<br />

assistance to deserving <strong>Butler</strong> students. Preference<br />

is given to full-time students in good<br />

standing with the <strong>University</strong> who maintain a<br />

cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.<br />

Class of 1995 Endowed Sesquicentennial<br />

Scholarship. Members of the Class of 1995<br />

wished to provide financial assistance to<br />

deserving <strong>Butler</strong> students by establishing this<br />

scholarship. Preference is given to full-time<br />

students in good standing with the <strong>University</strong><br />

who maintain a cumulative grade point average<br />

of 3.0 or better.<br />

Class of 2003 Endowed Scholarship.<br />

Members of the Class of 2003 established this<br />

scholarship to provide financial assistance to<br />

deserving students enrolled at <strong>Butler</strong> who have<br />

learning disabilities. Preference is given to a<br />

student who has a learning disability and is<br />

enrolled with Student Disability Services, demonstrates<br />

financial need and has a cumulative<br />

grade point average of 3.0 or better.<br />

<strong>Butler</strong> <strong>University</strong><br />

Class of 2004 Endowed Scholarship. Members<br />

of the Class of 2004 did such an excellent job<br />

fundraising for the senior class gift there were<br />

additional funds that were used to establish this<br />

scholarship. After the 5th year reunion, it will<br />

be known if this gift will become an endowed<br />

scholarship or an endowed book fund to<br />

support students at <strong>Butler</strong>.<br />

Reunion Class Scholarship Fund. Combining<br />

all class reunion scholarship giving aside from<br />

those funds already established will consolidate<br />

the strength of many individual class gifts<br />

into one significant endowed scholarship. The<br />

principal will grow over time and have a greater<br />

impact as it represents a lasting legacy from all<br />

the class reunion programs. The recipient shall<br />

be a full-time <strong>Butler</strong> student who demonstrates<br />

financial need.<br />

Mattie Rice Coney Scholarship. This is an<br />

endowed scholarship from the estate of Mattie<br />

Rice Coney for students from Marion County,<br />

Indiana. The <strong>University</strong> selects the recipient<br />

with preference given to those students who<br />

have demonstrated themselves to be good<br />

citizens of their community. Recommendations<br />

are considered from representatives of the local<br />

chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho sorority.<br />

Edith I. Cooper Scholarship. Edith Cooper,<br />

Class of 1916, provided a bequest to establish<br />

this endowed scholarship fund. It is awarded<br />

based on need.<br />

Marie Fisher Craig Scholarship. This scholarship,<br />

established by a bequest from the estate<br />

of Marie F. Craig, reflects her lifetime commitment<br />

to community service.<br />

Doris Maxine Crane Scholarship. This fund<br />

was established by a bequest from the estate<br />

of Doris Maxine Crane. This scholarship aids<br />

students who are financing their education by<br />

working their way through school.<br />

Dryden Book Fund. Dr. Hilary Gaudreau-<br />

Dryden, Class of 1993, and Dr. Earl S. Dryden,<br />

Class of 1992, established this fund to enhance<br />

<strong>Butler</strong> students’ learning experience by providing<br />

them with financial assistance for books.<br />

Recipients should need financial assistance and<br />

have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. The<br />

Drydens both serve on the College of Liberal<br />

Arts and Sciences Board of Visitors.
