RX675, Managed Care Rotation: This<br />

rotation provides the student pharmacist<br />

experience with the medical treatment of<br />

patients in a managed care system. Prerequisite:<br />

P–4 standing. (U)(4). Variable.<br />

RX676, Institutional Practice Rotation: This<br />

course is concentrated on the basic operational<br />

skills necessary for practice in an institutional<br />

pharmacy setting. The primary focus of activities<br />

will be on distribution and workflow in an<br />

institutional setting. (U)(4). Variable.<br />

RX677, Neurology Rotation: This rotation<br />

develops the student pharmacist’s knowledge<br />

and problem-solving skills in the application of<br />

the therapeutic principles to the care of patients<br />

who have neurological disorders. Prerequisite:<br />

P–4 standing. (U)(4). Variable.<br />

RX678, Nutrition Support Rotation: This<br />

rotation focuses on nutritional assessment and<br />

requirements, parenteral nutrition, enteral<br />

nutrition, nutritional support for disease states<br />

and nutritional support in specific patient<br />

populations. Prerequisite: P–4 standing. (U)(4).<br />

RX679, Oncology Rotation: This rotation<br />

develops the student pharmacist’s knowledge<br />

and problem-solving skills in the application of<br />

the therapeutic principles to the care of patients<br />

who have a malignancy. Prerequisite: P–4<br />

RX681, Neonatology Rotation: This rotation<br />

provides opportunities for the student pharmacist<br />

to participate in the care of neonates in the<br />

acute care setting. Prerequisite: P–4 standing.<br />

RX682, Pediatric Pharmacy Rotation: This<br />

rotation focuses on illnesses of the pediatric<br />

population, the physiologic differences in<br />

infants and children and how this affects drug<br />

therapy, how to solve problems in pediatric<br />

therapeutics and how to effectively communicate<br />

about pediatric issues. Prerequisite: P–4<br />

RX684, Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes<br />

Research Rotation: This rotation provides<br />

the student pharmacist experience with the<br />

utilization of pharmacoeconomic parameters<br />

in assessing the health outcomes involved in<br />

the management of patients. Prerequisite: P–4<br />

RX685, Pharmacokinetics Rotation: This<br />

rotation provides the student pharmacist<br />

experience in the monitoring of pharmacokinetically-administered<br />

medications. Prerequisite:<br />

RX686, Pharmacy Systems and Technology<br />

Rotation: This rotation provides the student<br />

pharmacist experience with the organization<br />

of a medication use system and the associated<br />

RX687, Poison Control and Toxicology<br />

Rotation: This rotation develops the student<br />

pharmacist’s knowledge and problem-solving<br />

skills in the application of therapeutic principles<br />

to the care of patients who have ingested,<br />

or have otherwise been exposed to, toxic<br />

substances. Prerequisite: P–4 standing.<br />

RX688, Pulmonary Rotation: This rotation<br />

develops the student pharmacist’s knowledge<br />

and problem-solving skills in the application<br />

of therapeutic principles to the care of patients<br />

who have pulmonary disorders. Prerequisite:<br />

RX689, Veterinary Medicine Rotation: This<br />

rotation provides experience in the care of<br />

animals with an emphasis on the use of drug<br />

therapy to cure or prevent disease. Prerequisite:<br />

Rotation: This rotation is designed to provide<br />

the student experience in the specialized clinical<br />

area of psychiatry with an emphasis on the<br />
