TH202, Voice for the Actor I: Vocal production<br />
techniques for theatrical performance with<br />
an emphasis on the speaking voice. Limited to<br />

TH203, Voice for the Actor II: Vocal production<br />
techniques for theatrical performance with<br />
an emphasis on the speaking voice. Prerequisite:<br />

Vocal music skills for theatre majors in preparation<br />
for stage audition. Course will address<br />
repertoire of Broadway musical and arts songs<br />

TH205, Vocal Music for Theatre Majors II:<br />
Course will address music skills and repertoire<br />
appropriate for musical theatre auditions.<br />

instruction in drafting, hand and power tools,<br />
and light industrial fabrication techniques.<br />
Laboratory component included. Prerequisite:<br />

TH232, Stage Lighting I: Study and application<br />
of the principles of lighting for the stage —<br />
properties of light, control of light and effect of<br />
light upon the play. (U)(3). Fall and spring.<br />
TH233, Costume Technologies I: For majors<br />
and anyone interested in costume construction.<br />
Prerequisite for Internship in Costume. Course<br />
includes: fabric preparation, reading a pattern,<br />
cutting a project, basic construction skills,<br />
standard finishing techniques. Both lab and<br />
wardrobe crew hours included. Prerequisite:<br />
TH200 or permission of instructor. (U)(3).<br />

TH300, Professional Theatre Practices:<br />
Development of professional rehearsal,<br />
performance and production techniques and<br />
discipline. Enrollment in this course is required<br />
of juniors or seniors in the theatre program.<br />
This is a pass/fail course and must be successfully<br />
completed four times to meet graduation<br />
requirements in the theatre major. Open to<br />
Theatre majors only. (P/F)(0). Fall and spring.<br />
TH210, Stage Movement II: Expanding on<br />
skills and methods taught in Stage Movement.<br />
Prerequisite: TH201 (U)(1). Spring only.<br />
TH212, Stage Movement III: Advanced Stage<br />

TH213, Acting III: Analysis of the verse structure<br />
of Shakespeare and his contemporaries<br />
with application in language usage through<br />
performance. Prerequisites: TH111, 112.<br />

TH220, Stage Management: This course<br />
introduces students to the skills and techniques<br />
employed by the professional Stage Manager.<br />
It is required for all students who wish to stage<br />
manage or assist on <strong>Butler</strong> Theatre productions.<br />

TH231, Stagecraft: Planning, construction<br />
and painting of scenery for the theatre. Includes<br />
TH302, Voice for the Actor III: Advanced vocal<br />
production technique, with an emphasis on<br />
a variety of topics including the International<br />
Phonetic Alphabet, speech and dialects. (U/G)<br />

TH314, Acting IV: Development of preparation<br />
and performance skills in acting, with<br />
an emphasis on character study and ensemble<br />
acting for the modern theatre. Prerequisites:<br />
TH111, 112, 213. (U)(3). Spring only.<br />
TH316, Theatre and Film: This course explores<br />
the influence of theatre on film narrative<br />
and imagery. Topics include: Shakespeare on<br />
Film; Fellini and the Circus; Expressionist Film;<br />
Character-based improvisation in the films of<br />
Mike Leigh; Asian Theatre Techniques in Film.<br />

TH320S, Service Learning in Schools: Provides<br />
the student with experience in teaching<br />
