Acid sulphate soils<br />

Acid sulphate soils (ASS) are soils that contain iron sulphides, which produce<br />

sulphuric acid when exposed to oxygen in air. The majority <strong>of</strong> the proposal footprint is<br />

located over soils that have the lowest potential risk <strong>of</strong> containing ASS (class 5) (refer<br />

to Figure 6-6). Table 6-53 lists the exceptions.<br />
