1997 Control <strong>of</strong> the Obtrusive Effect <strong>of</strong> Outdoor Lighting. This<br />

may require the use <strong>of</strong> directional lighting, cut-<strong>of</strong>fs or filters.<br />

Keep emergency spill kits on site at all times and make all staff<br />

aware <strong>of</strong> the location <strong>of</strong> the spill kits and trained in their use.<br />

Refuel and store all fuels, chemicals and liquids within an<br />

impervious bunded area within the construction<br />

compound/laydown areas sited a minimum <strong>of</strong> 50 metres away<br />

from:<br />

Rivers, creeks or any areas <strong>of</strong> concentrated water flow<br />

Flooded areas<br />

Slopes above 10%.<br />

Have a person attend all vehicle refuelling processes and<br />

ensure there is spill kit on all refuelling machinery and vehicles.<br />

Undertake all vehicle washdown and/or cement truck washout<br />

in a designated bunded area and least 50 metres away from<br />

water bodies and surface water drains.<br />

Prepare a Soil and Water Management Plan (SWMP) as part <strong>of</strong><br />

the CEMP in accordance with the requirements <strong>of</strong> QA<br />

specification G38 prior to starting construction. The SWMP<br />

would address the following:<br />

Roads and Maritime Code <strong>of</strong> Practice for Water<br />

Management, the Roads and Maritime Erosion and<br />

Sedimentation Procedure<br />

The NSW Soils and Construction – Managing Urban<br />

Stormwater Volume 1 ‘the Blue Book’ (Landcom, 2004) and<br />

Volume 2 (DECC, 2008)<br />

Roads and Maritime Technical Guideline: Temporary<br />
