the vacuum-advance diaphragm by securing<br />

its link to the magnetic pickup<br />

with the C-clip and bolting - the vacuum<br />

can to the distributor housing with the<br />

two long screws.<br />

With the vanes pointing up, install the<br />

armature on the sleeve. Push it all the<br />

way down on the sleeve, lining up the<br />

longitudinal grooves in the armature and<br />

shaft. Install the srnall roll pin in the<br />

groove. Tap it into place with your hammer<br />

and punch. Install the rotor and distributor<br />

cap. The distributor is ready to<br />

be installed.<br />

After installing new points and a condenser, adjust the points. Rotate cam so the rub block<br />

is on the nose <strong>of</strong> a cam lobe. Use a clean feeler gage to measure the point gap. Recheck<br />

the point setting after tightening screws. Slip the primary wire out through the distributor<br />

housing and attach it and the condenser lead to the points. Install a new rotor, cap and 0-<br />

ring and you've got a new distributor.<br />

After installing a solid-state: UI~LIIUULVI udse plate, lubricate Llle: rlbrt~p pivot. Position<br />

pickup assembly on baseplate and place molded section <strong>of</strong> harness into housing slot,<br />

securing it with a baseplate screw. Secure pickup to baseplate with wire clip.<br />

With the armature and shaft grooves lined up and armature vanes pointing up, push<br />

armature down on shaft until it bottoms. Lock it to the shaft by installing roll pin in groove.<br />

I'm tapping the pin into place with a hammer and punch.
