Introduction - - Configurations Tsunami comes in several configurations: fs standard configuration Model 3960 fs Lok-to-Clock Model 3960C fs Model 3960D (Lok-to-Clock upgradeable, i.e., without Model 3930 electronics module or M4 PZT mirror) ps-only standard configuration Model 3950 ps-only Lok-to-Clock configuration Model 3950C ps Model 3950D (Lok-to-Clock upgradeable, i.e., without Model 3930 electronics module or M4 PZT mirror) Any system can be converted for ps or fs operation. These fslps configurations differ in three ways:* Transmission of the output coupler. Method of wavelength selection: a slit for the fs version, and a birefringent filter (bi-fi) for the ps versions. method of dispersion compensation: a prism sequence for the fs version, and a Gires-Tournois interferometer (GTI) for the ps versions. Conversion Upgradeability If you purchased a Model 3960 fs laser, you can convert to a ps system by purchasing an upgrade kit and perform the fs to ps conversion yourself by following the fs to ps conversion procedure in chapter 6, "Alignment." If you purchased a Model 3950 ps laser (no prism mounts installed), you can purchase an upgrade kit for fs operation. However, the initial upgrade must be performed at an authorized Spectra-Physics Lasers service facility. Once these components are installed, you can convert between ps and fs configurations yourself by following the ps to fs conversion procedure in chapter 6.
