Installation<br />

DANGER: LASER RADIATION<br />

The pump laser is a Class IV High Power <strong>Laser</strong>. Always wear proper<br />

eye protection and follow the safety precautions in chapter 2, "<strong>Laser</strong><br />

Safety."<br />

b. Secure the locking nuts on the feet. Refer to your user's manual.<br />

c. Clamp the laser to the table using the foot clamps provided with<br />

the pump laser.<br />

6. Close the pump laser shutter.<br />

This completes the installation of the pump laser.<br />

Initial Placement of the <strong>Tsunami</strong> <strong>Laser</strong> Head<br />

1. Place the <strong>Tsunami</strong> laser head on the table parallel to the pump laser as<br />

shown in Figure 5-1, and position the <strong>Tsunami</strong> so that the input<br />

window is roughly in the same plane as the output window of the<br />

pump laser. Then center the input window over the row of table<br />

mounting holes that is about 46 cm from the row of holes the pump<br />

laser was centered on earlier.<br />

2. Remove the <strong>Tsunami</strong> laser head cover.<br />

a. Pull outward on the bottom of each of the four cover latches until<br />

it snaps.<br />

b. Press downward on the cover to release the pressure on the<br />

latches, then pull the top portion of the latch from the notch in the<br />

cover.<br />

c. Use the slotted finger grips at each end of the cover (Figure 4-1)<br />

and remove the cover from the laser.<br />

The shutter will close automatically when the cover is removed.<br />

3. Adjust the <strong>Tsunami</strong> laser head height.<br />

a. Loosen the locking nut on each foot.<br />

The nuts are threaded onto each leg and jam against the bottom<br />

of the base plate to lock the foot in place and to add stiffness to<br />

the foot.<br />

b. Inside the laser head, use a 5/32 in. Allen (hex) wrench to adjust<br />

the feet so the vertical center of the input window is 14.5 cm<br />

above the table and the base plate is parallel to the table top.<br />

c. Tighten the locking nuts.<br />

This completes the initial placement of the <strong>Tsunami</strong> laser.
