Alignment
WARNING
The rotational alignment of the Ti:sapphire rod has been optimized at
the factory. DO NOT remove the rod from its mount or alter its alignment,
except to adjust its translation (as detailed below). Any other modification
or adjustment, other than those made by a qualified Spectra-Physics
Lasers service engineer, will void the warranty.
c. Secure the rod locking screws.
20. Maximize output power by optimizing the pump beam waist position
in the rod.
a. Close the shutter.
b. Barely loosen the P2 setscrew located on the bottom of the mount
(Figure 6-6).
When loose, P2 should not wiggle when you try to move it by
hand.
c. Open the shutter.
d. Set pump laser for nominal output power.
e. Note Tsunami output power.
f. Turn the P2 translation screw turn in either direction, and adjust
P2 vertically and horizontally for maximum output power
(Figure 6-6).
g. Optimize Ml and M1 for maximum power.
Since the P2 adjustment is coarse, you must also optimize Mlo and
MI to see if power was gained or lost.
If step f results in increased output power, continue repeating
steps f and g until you reach maximum power. If the power level
decreased, repeat these steps, but turn the translation screw in the
opposite direction.
h. Reduce pump power to minimum.
i. Close the shutter.
j. Tighten the P2 setscrew.
k. Open the shutter.
1. Increase pump laser to nominal output power.
m. Adjust Pp horizontally and vertically for maximum output power.
If unit stops lasing, readjust P2 vertically and horizontally to
re-establish lasing and to maximize output power.
