Chapter 5
Installation
Unpacking Your Laser
Your laser was packed with great care and all containers were inspected
prior to shipment: the laser left Spectra-Physics Lasers in good condition.
Upon receipt of your laser, immediately inspect the outside of the shipping
containers. If there is any major damage, such as holes in a box or cracked
wooden frame members, insist that a representative of the carrier be present
when you unpack the contents.
Carefully inspect your laser as you unpack it. If you notice any damage,
such as dents, scratches or broken knobs, immediately notify the carrier
and your Spectra-Physics Lasers sales representative.
Keep the shipping containers. If you need to return the laser for upgrade
or service, the specially designed shipping containers assure adequate protection
of your equipment. Spectra-Physics Lasers will only ship Spectra-
Physics Lasers equipment in original containers; you will be charged for
replacement containers.
You will find the following items packed in an accessory kit included with
the laser head:
an Allen (hex) wrench tool kit, three foot clamps for mounting the
Tsunami laser head, four foot pads for the BearnLok pump laser, and
this manual;
optics cleaning materials including a plastic hemostat, tweezers, and
optical-grade lens tissue;
two pump beam routing mirror assemblies and a set of dust tubes;
a box containing the GTI, if the laser was ordered for ps operation.
In separate containers you will find:
a Model 3955 electronics module with an accessory kit containing
connecting cables;
a Model 3910 purge regulatorlfilter unit with gas tubing and connectors;
a Model 3930 electronics module if you ordered the optional Lok-to-
Clock " system;
a chiller with tubing and fittings and its own user's manual.
The external Tsunami system components are shown in Figure 4-1 of the
previous chapter. If you need more information on specific components, refer
to chapter 4, "Controls, Indicators and Connections."
